Jaw joint problems

Many of our patients come to us with complaints that are directly or indirectly linked to chewing function or dysfunktion of the masticatory system. These may include jaw joint clicking, pain, or limitation when opening the mouth or chewing, as well as facial pain or tinnitus. Some patients also notice habits such as clenching or grinding their teeth. To properly address these dysfunctions of the jaw and chewing system, a comprehensive examination is often required. This includes not only the jaw muscles, the temporomandibular joint, and the teeth themselves, but also posture and the supporting muscles of the head.

Since the majority of causes lie in the soft tissues, we work closely with physiotherapists, orthopedists, and osteopaths.

Our nightguards are individually designed following thorough examinations and manufactured to the highest dental laboratory standards. They are often an essential tool in the therapy of the above-mentioned conditions, providing functional support to the stressed chewing system while relieving teeth and soft tissues. To ensure the most comprehensive treatment possible, we adapt the surface of the nightguard dynamically in coordination with physiotherapy sessions.

We are also happy to provide you with self-treatment strategies and personalized guidance for accompanying exercises.

If necessary, we can additionally support your therapy with individually tailored medicine for muscle relaxation and pain relief.
